Description:
12/31/2009 Santa gave King the best gift of all - a family of his own! Yeah King! At the top of King's wishlist this holiday season is a family of his own.
King is a delightful, happy-go-lucky Cocker Spaniel patiently waiting for a family of his own.
King came into care with severe ear infections that required surgery to correct, but he is now fully healed.
As a result of the surgery, King is deaf, but that does not limit his activity or abililty.
King is housebroken and an easy dog to care for. He is also very gentle and quiet
He loves to be outdoors watching for squirrels and rabbits.
When he sees one his tail wags like a metronome on a fast beat.
As much as King enjoys the outdoors he also likes to lounge in the house with his canine friends.
When nighttime comes King is ready to retire and sleeps through the night in his crate.
King is not a “velcro dog”, but he does like to be near his foster mom or at least have her in view.
The only time he is known to bark is when he sees a squirrel.
King does not play with the other dogs in the foster home, but does ‘use’ them as his ears by observing what they do and how they act.
King has been around several cats and seems to enjoy their company as well.
Although considered a senior at 9+ years, King is very active and enjoys a good romp around the backyard with a tennis ball. He can be quite affectionate and cuddly once he gets to know you.
If allowed, he will get up on furniture and make himself comfy.
He has also been observed counter surfing. King
will sit very nicely to get a treat.
King is easily corrected, but is sometimes hard to redirect when he spots a squirrel.
King does not know a lot of commands, but doesn’t require a lot of correction either. He does respond to hand signals which he has learned very well.
King does well on a leash and enjoys walks.
He also is excellent in the car.
King has allergies believed to be food based and is eating a sensitive skin formula dog food available in most pet stores.
He also fusses with his feet a lot due to allergies and the vet has recommended more frequent bathing with a medicated shampoo.
King has many good qualities and is one happy canine that is so deserving of a family.
If you are a fan of cockers or easy-care dogs, please consider King.
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of King - ADOPTED 12.31.09 (click to see larger version):
