Description:
Data is a very sweet, very friendly puppy. He is about 6 weeks old, as of 2/25/2016, and is about 2 lbs 8 oz. The shelter had him listed as a chihuahua/dachshund mix and he looks it. He looks like a chihuahua with a longer body and shorter legs than usual. He LOVES to be held and cuddled, but he also needs to have a lot of time on the floor to learn independence and to learn his place in the home (as in, not King of the Castle, but as a member of the pack).

Anyone interested in Data needs to look past his utter adorableness and remember that he is a tiny puppy and easy to fall in love with, but he will become an adult dog quickly. He will grow up to be, probably, around 10 - 13 lbs and may have the chihuahua stubbornness. He has already showed a few dominant traits, so, if you already have a dog, consider if your own dog is going to want to be alpha in your home.

A potential adopter must be ready and willing to take extra time in house training, and training in general. They need to do extra socializing to keep him from being the stereotypical ankle-biting little dog and they need to know that puppies, as a whole, are a heck of a lot of work. Data was taken from his litter too young and is still learning soft bite and how to take cues from other dogs. He is playing with his foster brother and sister, so is learning some from them, but he would benefit from a puppy preschool / puppy playtime with other puppies.

He is so incredibly small, and slight of build, so much so that any family interested in him must consider how their children will be with a dog so small. A family with upper elementary age kids (that are proven to be good with animals) or older should be fine, but he could be too easily hurt from the heavy handed love of a young child.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The  petfinder.com  system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
