Description:
My name is Gratiot and I am the first dog who was saved by LDDR from Detroit Animal Control. I was found as a stray and taken to DAC and let me tell you that is one place you don’t ever want to go to!! I’m so thankful to be in a foster home now. My fur is really matted because I was not being cared for so my foster mom made me an appointment at the groomer. I can’t wait to look and smell good again.
I’ve been told I am a gentle giant. I am very malnourished and I should be about 110lbs so my foster mom is trying to fatten me up! I am a very sweet, smart boy. I know sit, I am great on a leash and I’m fully house trained. I’m crate trained but I keep trying to tell my foster mom (with those sad, sad eyes) that I don’t need a crate but she says I am safer in a crate right now. I have had all my shots and I’m fixed. We just found out that I am Heartworm positive because my previous owners did not give me my heartworm preventive each month. Thankfully LDDR will pay to have me treated so I can live out the rest of my life healthy and happy. Having Heartworms normally doesn’t have any long term effects on my life but my new owners will have to give me the normal heartworm preventives that all my other dog friends get each month so that I don’t ever get this again. I am available for adoption on 12-18-15.
Please help LDDR save more dogs like Gratiot from DAC and other local shelters. Please make a donation to help pay for Gratiot's Heartworm treatment and other medical expenses at Gratiot
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs/cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's/cat’s shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog/cat is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs and cats MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs and cats back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog or cat.

Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first.
