Description:
Dalton is a VERY sweet and friendly boy! He was a shelter favorite and was their office dog. Dalton does very well on a leash and looks forward to his daily walks. He is completely housetrained, and up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Dalton recently had 2 masses removed from his hind legs and is still recovering to get his strength back. Dalton also has some arthritis. He is a big boy and needs to lose some weight and would do best in a home without a lot of stairs. Dalton is a very spoiled fella and needs a little extra TLC for his food, since he will not eat just the dry kibble or wet food. He is on a special diet to lose weight and takes about 2-3 short walks a day which he loves. Dalton just wants to be loved and is best not being left alone for long periods of time, not because he would destroy anything but because he loves to be around humans. He barely barks but does whine when you leave. Dalton loves other dogs and cries/whines when he sees them and tries to get to them to say hello (this does not mean that he misbehaves on a leash). Dalton would be fine in a home with other dogs as long as they are laid back and show little interest in him. He is great with cats and ignores them. He does extremely well with kids, although it is not recommended that he goes to a home with kids that will crawl all over him as he has weak back legs and could hurt him. Dalton is the very best dog I’ve ever been around, he is very gentle and just all around the most laid back dog. If you are looking for a companion dog that is happy, sweet, and laid back dog, Dalton is for you!
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.
