Description:
As a foster Mom it is not hard to write a bio for such a wonderful dog as Nate, he is such a joy to have around. He reminds me everyday that even when things get bad, each new day brings something new and nothing ever gets him down or stops him from trying.
Nate is 9-10 months old and lost his rear leg in a car accident. No one came to claim him and his time in the shelter was up. Last Day Dog Rescue pulled this little guy from the shelter and he came into my home . Right now Nate weights 24 pounds and I don't think he will get much bigger. He is a mixed breed and we don't know for sure what mix, to me he is a pure Heinz 57 love bug.
Nate has soft brown and black short fluffy fur and loves to be around his person. Nate is great with other dogs big or small! He loves to play but not so much that he doesn't appreciate some quiet time. He is working on his basic commands and listens real well, he makes great eye contact and loves to please.
Nate's disability does not hold him back from being a wonderful dog. He may need some special considerations when bringing him home, like a few more rugs so he doesn't slip or a high dog bowl so he doesn't need to bend over and maybe a few less stairs. He has done great with the couple stairs I have going outside to the yard, but he may need to be watched on a longer stair case until he is confidant with them.
Nate is house trained and crate trained, and he behaves extremely well in the house. He is content in his crate to chew a bone or take a nap but he rather be out playing or lounging on a dog bed. He is not much of a barker but he will bark while playing or to get your attention. He is a very smart little guy and a joy to have around. He does well on a leash walking, and will curl up in the car for a ride.
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.
