Description:

My name is Magoo and even though I'm blind even I can see there is a Santa Claus!  I was rescued from a kennel in Indiana and LDDR saved me!! I am believed to be 5 years young. I am a Lab Retriever mix.  I am super sweet and am told that I have a great disposition. I am completely blind, but this does not limit my ability to do things. I am really good at getting around since I use my nose and have a keen sense of smell. If I bump into something I just shake it off and go in a different direction. My foster Mom says I'm a brave little trooper!

The resident dog at my foster home is a big shepherd mix and he doesn't mind me following him around.  I would love it if you had another dog that I could live with too. I’m getting used to the cats in my foster home.  My foster Mom says there are 4 of them. Some of them like to mess with me, but I just ignore them now. When it comes to kids, I think I would do best with older children because I can be a little nervous or startled sometimes since I can't see. Just hearing your voice calms me right down and makes my tail wag and then I’m just fine.

I don't know any basic commands yet but my foster Mom says I'm a quick learner. I’ve learned to navigate the 4 steps coming in and out of the house now.  My foster Mom doesn’t even have to say, "Step up" or "Step down." I can do it myself without a leash now since I’ve got it mapped out in my head. I am housetrained, but I admit I’ve had just a few accidents. I do well in my crate, but I’d rather not stay in there while you are gone.  My foster Mom coaxes me in with a treat and tells me I’m a good boy. I’m very quiet too. I let the resident dog do all the barking and I rarely join in, mostly because I don’t know what the heck he’s barking at since, you guessed it, I can’t see! Foster Mommy says I am making her a better housekeeper, because if she leaves her dirty laundry on the floor and she is not around, I may just grab a sock or a shirt and bring it back to my dog bed so I can chew a hole in it. I use my blindness as an excuse for not grabbing a readily available dog chew toy instead.

I am neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on my shots, and microchipped. I would love it if you inquired about me or came to meet me at one of my adoption events. I bet you will fall in love with me just like everyone else does when they meet me! Thank you for considering opening up your heart and home to a special needs homeless dog.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
