Description:
Papa Louie is an older Chihuahua, roughly 10 years old.  Papa is super sweet and very lovable.  He is a roly-poly though and is overweight at 17 pounds. This boy hasn't missed any meals!!  His food intake is now being monitored to help him shed some pounds.  Papa does seem to have some vision limitations, but it doesn't stop him from being on the go. Papa is good with dogs [not sure about cats], kids, and adults. He is housebroken and loves to cuddle.  He will get up on the couch just to be next to you and loves to sleep in your bed at night.  A recent physical exam revealed Papa has some liver issues going on, but we aren't sure of the extent.  He shows no outward signs of illness.  Papa is currently on Denamarin for 30 days, after which another blood sample will be taken to see if there is any change in his liver panel.  Papa also has only one testicle descended.  The other is inside the body and neutering will require abdominal incision, which will require a longer recuperation period.  There is a high risk of cancer developing in that testicle if not removed from the body.  We can't be sure at his age if there is already something going on with it.  This little sweet-pea is just an all-round great little dog that needs a loving family to share his remaining years with.  Please don't let his physical issues deter you from considering him; he is a sweetheart!  To learn more about Papa or to meet him, contact his foster mom at j-jarrett@att.net .

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
