Description:

Hi, my name is Checkers. I have the most handsome catahoula coloring and the most beautiful eyes. I am good with cats, kids, and other dogs. I am crate trained, house broken and just the biggest LOVE BUG you have ever met! I do have alot of energy so that's why I stay skinny. My foster mom says I am sooo cute when she tells me to do circles and gives me the sign and I go round and round. In a fenced yard though I will run around and then lay down in the grass and enjoy the sun. I would be perfect for an active family or a mom or dad that jogs. I am so special that if you rub my back end I will stand there forever. I know how to sit and shake and because of my love for people I could probably do even more trick as I also LOVE treats. I am super friendly so I love everyone I meet, I am a submissive dog so I bow down to almost every dog and people so they know I am friendly. I love belly rubs too so if I lay down I am sure to get more. I could use a little bit more work on my leash walking skills which my foster mom is working on. I am the most unique dog in looks and personality you will ever meet. I started out my adult life by being dumped at a high kill shelter and was due to be euthanized when my foster mom helped get me to the rescue because she saw how GREAT I really was even through the bars of a shelter cage. If you would like to meet me please contact my foster mom.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
