Description:

Want to meet just about a perfect dog?  Then Sampson is your guy!  Samson is a beautiful golden mix and is approx. 3 years old. He is a wonderful dog, and by far the easiest dog I have ever fostered! Samson loves people and wants to be loved in return. He will come to me when I am watching TV and bury his face in my lap and loves being petted! He attached to me fairly quickly, and wanted to be by my side as much as possible. He also likes laying at your feet. Samson walks well on a leash and enjoys exploring my 5 acres with me.  He loves to play and could learn to play ball very easily and would enjoy that for exercise or just going for walks with you.  He will bark when strangers come to the house, but will quiet down when you tell him it is ok.  He is now crate trained and will go to his room (crate) when you direct him to.

Samson gets along with all dogs from 8 lbs to 135 lbs. He is not a dominate dog, but will stand his ground if he is challenged, so it is important to introduce him properly to other dogs. He can get over a 4-5 foot fence and would do best in a yard with a privacy fence.

Samson was on his own for quite some time when he was in Tennessee before he came to LDDR.  He had to fend for his own food and became a frequent visitor to a local store in a small community.  Samson would be at the store waiting for it to open and the owner started feeding him as he would stay all day and greet her customers.  When she would leave at night, Samson would go on his way (she thought to his own home)  When the store closed due to the economy, and she was loading up the remainder of items to take to her home, Samson knew she would not come back, and started chasing her vehicle.  She picked him up and looked for his owner only to find out he was a stray.  She took him home with her but already had 2 other dogs and could not afford to keep him.  She also did not have a fenced in yard, and she would let all of the dogs out in the morning and they would wander.  Samson was always the first to return to her home, but did get attacked by coyotes and survived!  I think he may be part Great Pyr as he is very protective of anyone he does bond with and the fact that he survived an attack of coyotes, tells me he is no slouch!!  Because Samson was on his own for so long, he would need a five foot or six foot fence until he bonds with the family that adopts him.

Samson is an amazing dog and the family who adopts him will have a truly wonderful addition to their family!!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
