Description:
Joe is 1 year 8 month old  and weighs about 50 pounds.  We believe he maybe a German Shepherd/Great Dane Mix.  He is very tall and does have the hint of a saddle on his back, but has very long legs and the tan color of a dane.  Joe was left on a tie out for some time and then was a stray who showed up at a good samaratins house.  Since the man could not keep Joe, he took him to the animal shelter where he thought he would get adopted.  Unfortunately this shelter is a very high kill shelter and when the man realized his mistake, he went back and got Joe out of there instantly!!  Joe likes all people he meets and really enjoys the company of anyone who will give him a little attention.  He definately needs obedience training to get some of his commands down now while he is still a puppy.  He is very smart and likes treats, so he will be an easy dog to train.  Joe could also benefit from the training to get more socialization with other dogs. He tends to be picky about his doggie friends. He gets along with them when he is loose, but if he were in his own yard, or in a crate, he will protect his property.  He is a little on the thin side, but that will change soon, but as of now he is very protective of his food with other dogs.  This may well change when he gets some training and gains a little weight, but for now it is best that he be fed alone.  A home without cats is best for him as he seems a bit too curious about them. Joe cannot wait to find the right family that will get him trained and let him repay them with his love and affection.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption.  AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification.  The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted.  If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip.  Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times.  Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
