Description:

Jeepers joined LDDR in June 2012.

Jeepers AKA 'JP' is a sweet little beagle estimated to be about 7 years old. JP is all beagle; his tail up, nose to the ground, and the occasional sniffing of the air to take in all the smells.  When he detects something of great interest JP will point and then stealthy manuever his way to the source of scent. JP is a fairly mellow little guy that minds pretty well and takes treats gently.  JP is friendly to everyone he meets and appears to have a 'special affection' for men.  He seems to light up when men come around him.  He will seek out attention and cuddle with you if you encourage him.  JP is also very quiet. Since he has been in his foster home he has only barked a couple times and that was when he spotted a squirrel.  He resides with six other dogs and does very well with them.  He enjoys some good old-fashioned rough-housing with another dog and when tired he plops down to nap.  JP sleeps through the night [actually he sleeps in, preferring not to get up until about 7:30am].  JP is housebroken, loves being outdoors rolling around in the grass or just relaxing.  He dislikes rain and wet feet. JP likes walks and does good on a leash until he sees a rabbit or squirrel then his beagle instinct kicks in.  He will bolt and run if you don't have a firm hold on the leash.  Like most dogs, JP does not like fireworks.  If he is outdoors and hears them, he makes a mad dash to the door and scratches to come in.  Once in, he makes another mad dash to his bed and stays there the rest of the night.  It would be comical, except for the fact we know he is scared.  A physical fence is preferred for JP because he will run off if the opportunity presents itself, which is probably how he ended up a stray.

JP is UTD on his vaccines and neutered.  If you are looking for an all-around good dog, who enjoys sleeping more than running, JP may be your boy.

For questions, or to meet JP, please contact his foster mother at j-jarrett@att.net.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.
