Description:
Tanner somehow found himself in a very high kill shelter. Very soon they were full and his time was up. We got him out quickly as the volunteers there said he was such a happy and playful young dog he needed to be in a home and not end his life there.
Tanner is such a happy boy his tail never stops wagging. He gets along great with dogs. He loves to play! He is a big dog - well behaved and friendly. He is beautifully marked and well proportioned with long legs. He has little floppy ears and a long tail with a little curl at the end. We have five cats. He kept distance at first, but soon decided cats are all right. Tanner and Magnus (our black lab) had one dust-up the first day. But, now they are true pals. Magnus cannot get enough of Tanner. They are shoulder to shoulder around the yard and they like to wrestle. Tanner is happy to be with people. He walks (well enough) on a leash and has some basic commands. Tanner can jump fences-he will escape when bored or sees something interesting. He always returns when called. Tanner has big dog bark, with a hint of hound dog howl. He is a handsome and impressive dog.

Tanner recently surprised us by retrieving thrown objects. He must have picked up this trait watching our family dog [Magnus] having all the fun. I couldn't resist taking Tanner to the park and seeing if he also would follow Magnus's lead in catching a frisbee. Tanner is a quick study and proves to be a natural frisbee catcher. Tanner can sky.

We hope someone will adopt him soon he deserves a great home.  Won't you please consider him for your newest furry family member.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
