Description:

Looking for a running partner?  Pure Bred English Pointer, tripod-was hit by a semi in 2010 & had his left rear leg amputated, well trained, good w/ dogs & children, (I was also told he is good w/ cats but I do not have cats in my home), microchipped w/ 24 PetWatch, 40 pounds, needs large fenced yard, you must be experienced w/ the breed or have extensive knowledge of pointers - so do your homework before applying.  Despite having only 3 legs he is very active and fast! He is equally a calm loving dog in the house & is a #1 cuddle bug.  Loves attention & is very affectionate.

I reccoment a large secure fenced yar,  he may be a tripod but he is still very active & has the English Pointer drive to run and play he does not require a lot of intense running he is 3 yrs old now & starting to slow down for a pointer but still has a lot of 'go'...

From his previous owner who was forced to surrender him to the shelter : 'My husband and father both have had to under go cancer treatment. His birthday is Feb. 14th 2009. He loves snuggling under your covers, road trips (even if its to the mail box), He is very good at opening gates. That's how he lost his leg. He let himself out and got hit by a truck. He is registered and has been bird hunting.  I always kept him on leash or in an invisible fence. He loves everyone and is super sweet. He would go every where with me. He is a good boy around horses and other animals. Gauge absolutly LOVES to wear his "clothes" ( dog coats ). All you have to say is " lets put your clothes on" an he will even try to help you put them on. He is also very well trained. He likes his kennel and when at home would put himself in for alone time. If you say "kennel up" he'll hope right in. He loves to lay on the sofa with you and have his ears twirled.  He loves cats alot. I have 6 that he raised from kittens. (I adopted a whole litter) They all would sleep with him and steal his food, he would let them. He would also pick them up when they were babies and clean them.'

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
