Description:
Magoo is quite nearly the perfect dog. He is laid back, likes his crate, loves to play with his people and other dogs. His best friends are my pugs. He is mostly blind, however, he sees shadows. He gets around just fine and in just a week at my house, he runs around the back yard and rolls in the grass. He bumps around the house sometimes, but he has learned the house quickly too. He follows the other dogs around quite a bit. I think he would prefer to have a furry friend. He loves to play with his fur friends here.
He was dumped in the park, no one ever attempted to claim him. The vet agreed that he must have taken quite a blow to the head due to the redness of his eye and his walking in circles. She said the circles could have been due to a concussion. He is approximately 4-5 years old. His blood test results will be in tomorrow, otherwise the vet said he sounds and looks good.
His blindness does not slow him down much at all. He can get scared though when you reach for him, so probably no small kids. If you speak to him and let him know you are there, it helps him not to be scared.
He would be a perfect companion for someone without small children. He is quiet, and loving. He loves to be with his people. If you put him on the couch with you, he will lay there and cuddle up with you. He will go for walks, you just have to guide him away from steps, grates, and other things that could make him fall or scare him. For being blind, he is a brave little guy that is full of life and love. He wags his little tail constantly and is just fun to have around Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Mr. Magoo - ADOPTED 01.22.12 (click to see larger version):
