Description:
Lacy joined LDDR in October 2011! Update 10/10/2011: Lacy came to us from an Ohio pound where she was on death row. She's a very sweet girl, so we are lucky we were able to get her! Our vet believes Lacy is a vizsla mix. She has a very small frame, but is quite lanky. She weighs 40 lbs, and is approximately 1 to 1 1/2 years old. Lacy has a very soft heart. She's longing for human companionship, and absolutely comes alive when people take time with her. She walked with two teenage girls Saturday for a long time and was in heaven. She's well-behaved besides needing to learn not to jump up as much - she just wants to be close to everyone! We have learned that Lacy does not do well with certain other pets, including dogs, cats, and rabbits. She is very picky about her friends, but has a pomeranian that she gets along with great. We would recommend her as an only child, or for a home with just one other pet. She is housebroken and stands by the door when she needs to go potty. She is learning to sit and come. She will go into the crate with a treat thrown in first, and she is protective of her crate. She loves to play with stuffed animals and is a bouncy little girl who loves having her belly rubbed. She is grateful to be out of the shelter and to have a warm place to sleep with all the food and water she needs. She did very well on the car ride in a soft sided crate until she had to go potty and tried to dig her way out of it. I think with a little patience and lots of love she'll be a great dog for someone who is active. She craves affection and doesn't bark unless someone is at the door. She did chew through the harness I put on her to get her home and isn't so sure about the tags I just put on her collar but once she gets used to them she'll leave them alone. Other than that, she has not tried to chew anything that is not a doggy toy. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Lacy - ADOPTED (Missing Contract) (click to see larger version):
