Description:
Update 8/8/11: Chevy is the most mellow, laid-back dog I've ever met. To have experienced all the neglect that he has & still have such a sweet spirit is amazing. He loves people, dotes on kids, gets along well with other dogs & pretty much ignores cats. I took him to be groomed & everyone at the shop fell in love with him. His house manners are excellent--didn't even try to get on the furniture. In fact, the 3 days he was with me I never had to crate him. He's a little rough around the edges due to his extreme thinness & hair loss, but a few more weeks of good groceries should fill him out. He is going to be a very handsome dog & a great family member for some lucky adopter! Update 7/29/11: This gentle giant dog needs some extra TLC. He is a lab/saint bernard or newfounderland mix . He weighs about 70 lbs now but should weigh more like a hundred pounds . We just got him today 7/29/11 and he is the skinniest dog we have seen yet, He has hair loss from not being treated for fleas which we will fix, and his ribs, hip bones, and spine are sticking out . But his face is so very huggable and handsome , he has the charactristic droopy eyes of a saint or newfie and the floppy and droopy jowls also of the classic big dog He just looked so sad when I put him in the van tonite to take him from a high kill shelter to the vet I gave him two big milk bones he looked at me like these are mine ? With a grateful lick to my hand he took them and lay quietly down in the crate in my van. to eat them with gusto. We can tell he has a valiant and kind spirit about him and he needs that special family to love him and show him how kind we can be Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Chevy - ADOPTED 08.15.11 (click to see larger version):
