Update: 7/8/11 Louis has been in his foster home for 4 weeks & his personality is really emerging. He is very verbally protective of his home & yard but graciously welcomes all visitors, both two & four legged. He has accepted his place in the pack & defers to the resident Dobe & the two cats; he even gives up his favorite spot on the couch if one of the cats wants it. He's definitely a mama's boy & greets me with the Dober dance & a smile whether I've been gone for five minutes or five hours. He does like to counter surf--found out the hard way when a loaf of bread disappered--but that just makes me keep the counters clean! Lucas is now up to date on all his vaccines & after his dental next week he'll be a completely refurbished pup. The person who gets to take Lewis home is going to be very, very lucky. Louis is a handsome male red Doberman who had lived his whole life with one family. Circumstances forced them to give him up & he's now looking for a new home where he will be loved & spoiled as he deserves. Although he is nine years old, he has the energy of a ninth month old. He likes kids & other dogs & he thinks that cats are, well, just the cat's meow. Among his most favorite things are long walks, doggy treats, & cuddles on the couch--in spite of his large size he thinks he's a lap dog. His least favorite thing is being crated--in fact, he really can't tolerate it. If you would like to share Louis's Golden Years with him, please complete an application. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting.
