UPDATE 7/23/11

Yeah, Libby is all done with her heartworm treatment shots :)

Read what her foster has to say:

"Libby is ready to go to her new forever home, she will need to have a heart
worm test in 4-5 months. She is getting to be more loving (if thats possible).
She is at your side all the time. She is happy, calm and she is just thankful that she
has someone to love her, she is ready for her meet and greets and hope she can
find her forever home. I just love her to death, and yes there will be crying
when she gets adopted but thats good".

UPDATE 6/22/11

Libby will receive her first shot of heartworm treatment in a few days. Her doctor is a bit worried about her age (even though she is still very young) and on how far advanced the heartworm already is. Please put Libby in your prayers that she does not have to suffer too much and that she will be better soon. Also, once Libby recovers and is able to go into adoption, she would profit  to be in a calmer and relaxed home. She is not much of a runner or super active dog....she is more of a cuddler and "lazy" dog.

UPDATE 6/12/11
Libby will start her heartworm treatment on 6/16/11 and will stay for the next 4-6 weeks in her fosters home to recover. Heartworm treatments are pretty hard on any dog, but with lots of TLC and a little prayer, Libby will fight through this, like she was fighting for her new life with us. If you have any questions about Libby, please email her foster Rhonda (labma00@yahoo.com) and she will be able to answer all your questions about our very special girl. Rhonda says: "She only has one problem, she loves to go for a ride and when you get home, you have to get in the back seat and carry her out :)....I love her". Don't YOU just want to make her part of your family?

First Entry:
Libby was rescued by one our great volunteers who knew the dog was left on a short chain on their deck 24/7 . Dogs crave our company so this must have been torture for this lovely boxer girl . Sadly because of the neglect heaped on her she is positive for heartworm . She will be starting treatment soon but she is available if you want to adopt her and of course we will cover the treatment. What we do know about lovely Libby is that she loves loves loves car rides.  She is housebroken and lives with other dogs and she does great . Her foster mom bought her a fleece blanket and its her favorite thing to have near her .  We feel LIbby will make a great pet and friend in your home.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
