Description:

Jakke joined LDDR in November 2010!

12/9/2010: Now that Jakke has been with us a few weeks, we know more about him. His good habits: he is very well trained. He knows a few commands. He is fully housebroken. He enjoys belly rubs. He gets along great with other dogs. He is not a barker, but would make an excellent watch dog for someone who is concerned about intruders, as he has a keen ear and will alert you if someone comes to the door. His bark can be heard from the street, though again he doesn't bark much unless he hears something inside the house or someone at the door. He is not a chewer, so you can leave him home alone uncrated while you are gone and you will not come home to any surprises. He really enjoys having a bone to chew, preferably one with filling in the center. He doesn't seem to have much interest in other toys. He is very affectionate and would make a great companion dog for somebody. In his current living situation, his foster family is away about 10 hours per day, and he seems to be ok by himself. Of course he will want to come and sit by you as soon as you return home.

Jakke's only bad traits are that he likes to sit on the couch, especially when you are not home. It may be a difficult trait to train out of him, so we suggest just putting a blanket over your couch while you are away, if you consider this an unwanted behavior. Again he does not like being crated. He has actually injured himself trying to chew threw a crate while his people were away, but again he does not chew furniture or objects in the house; just chews his way out of the crate! Lastly he likes getting into the trash. As long as you have a covered trash can or a trash can that is in your pantry or in a cupboard, he won't get into it. We personally like to put a step stool in front of our trash can which seems to keep him away from it. He doesn't actually eat the contents of the trash; just thinks its fun to knock over.

So that is the story on Jakke. He is an amazing dog, and we consider ourselves quite lucky to have him in our rescue. Please help Jakke find his forever home!

11/15/2010: Jakke is an extremely easy dog to have in your home. He is an easy going good boy who loves to please his people and be near them. Jakke does not require a lot of care his coat is shiny and so handsome with a white chest with black spots . He is well mannered and loves dogs and children too. No training here to do as he is very housebroken and does not chew your belongings.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
