Description:
11/23/2010: George went to the vet today. We discoverd that he is 75lbs (a big boned guy!)
He had a lump on him that needed to be biopsied, but the results came back just fine.
He needs no treatment for it and it is harmless. Yay George!
11/15/2010: I have to wonder how an angel like this winds up in a high-kill shelter, with no
time left. When you see him, George radiates such goodness that it is IMPOSSIBLE not to pet him and
snuggle. This Luv-bug is a fantastic dog, knows all commands and was introduced into my current
pack of seven dogs within ten minutes flat of getting inside the house. He is EXCELLENT with
other dogs, LOVES cats (nuzzled two of them within minutes of arrival), great with my
goats (went right in the pen to try to play) liked the Rabbits (in cages), and hands down
is one of the easiest dogs I have had here. Ever.

From his mannerisms, I feel that he would be just fine with children, however, we don't
have any readily available here, so we will have to see how he does with them later on.
He loves hugs, belly rubs, and generally prefers to be petted non-stop all over, so I
cannot really imagine any issues as he is very non-reactive. He is amazing with commands as well: He knows sit, stay, down, heel, walks on short lead,

understands doggie doors. Fully house trained. He is fine riding loose in the car, lays down for the trip, but I do use a dog harness.
Waits patiently in the car while errands are run. Does not pull for the most part, but
from time to time can get excited as he is a pretty young fellow yet. He is a perfect gentleman in the house, one of the few dogs to
arrive here that does not need to be crated.

George is a bundle of joy, three years old, but looks older due to white hairs growing
out where he had a skin condition on his face. My best guess is that he is a
"Goldador", a Golden Retriever crossed with Lab. He has the temperament of a dog bred to be a leader
dog for the blind: Calm, steady, unflappable, sturdy and with a heart of pure gold. He
has soft feathers on his chest and legs, is very larged boned, XL paws and blocky body
with a HUGE bear head. He is a medium to large dog, approximately sixty-five pounds. He
has the green/gold eyes of a chocolate lab. His front incisors are worn from too many
tennis balls enjoyed, but the rest of them sparkle and are pearly white. He loves to romp
and play, and his tail is always going a mile-a-minute. He moves more like a golden than
a lab, in my opinion.

George likes to be with his person, and can bark for a while when he is separated for some reason, but not for long. He can squeak very softly if he needs
something (like a potty break or more petting, please!) but is a very happy-go-lucky guy.

He is UTD on shots, has been neutered and is HW negative. He has been wormed, treated
for a skin condition, and does have what appears to be a lump of scar-tissue on his neck
that we will have looked at this week. Other than that, he does like to put his paws up on the counter to see what is up there,
but does not do anything except look and responds immediately to "off". He
does not get up on furniture (even when invited) as reported by his former FM (Foster
Mom).

His pictures do NOT do him justice; he is such a beautiful dog.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
