Description:
Betsy has already been spayed and is up to date on vaccines. She is currently boarding at a doggy daycare in Plymouth where they give her lots of love and TLC. She's good with other dogs (mostly just indifferent to them) and is left out in an open daycare setting with 30 other dogs of all sizes. We have not had her around cats, so not sure how she would do with them. She is good with kids, and has a very mellow laidback personality. For example, I drove her in my car to a vet appointment. She spent the first half of the ride chilling in the backseat and looking out the window, got excited every time I would roll the window up or down more, and also excited over the windshield wiper blades. For the second half of the ride, she crawled up to the front, rode as my co-pilot, and nuzzled her little head against my arm wanting pets. She is not a dog who jumps up on people or anything. And she is fairly small. She does fine with her leash walking. I don't think she knows any commands. She is crate trained. She is scared of thunderstorms, so we would recommend an anti anxiety med, herbal supplement, or thunder jacket during these times, and some snuggling of course. Betsy is a great dog! She is crate trained, but doesn't love it. She will whine and do her "beagle bark" when you first put her in it, but then she gets used to it and is fine. She is doing well with the dogs in her household, though is sometimes protective of her food, so we would recommend feeding separately if you do have other dogs. We haven't tried her with cats so we aren't sure how she is with those, but does not seem to have much prey drive around squirrels and birds. She is a very happy dog, tail always wagging. She is exercised each day and loves her walks! As her photos show, she loves to sleep in bed with us, as close to people as possible! She has daily interaction with dogs and children and is equally as friendly. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Betsy-ADOPTED-6.22.11 (click to see larger version):
