Description:
Gavri is a fantastic dog and is doing super great. His tail is completely healed now and he loving life. He and his foster brother are such wonderful friends and really enjoy play time, but cuddle up with each other now & then. He has been gentle around children and cats and so friendly with everyone else who visits him. We had them both up north a few weeks ago and Gavri was so good. He stayed by us the whole time and we did not even need to tie him up. He listened whenever we called him and followed us wherever we went. He is doing good on walks and is learning basic commands very well too. Overall, he is such a happy dog and will make a great family addition for anyone.
If you do have any other questions or would like to meet Gavri please contact Matt at Groe6574@yahoo.com
UPDATE 8-25-2010: Took Gav's surgery collar off today and he's doing great... really enjoying the new freedom... see the new video below!
Meet Gavri! This pup has been through A LOT! Recently picked up from Lansing, Gavri had been living in a house full of neglected, abused and starving dogs. On top of that, we were horrified to see that he’d somehow very recently lost his tail, and that he had not received any medical attention to treat this injury. It was one of those extremely sad situations that we come across that make it very hard to even understand how anybody could let things like this happen to any animal… but at the same time makes us that more gracious to help this guy out. Two days later this brave dog comes walking out of the vet, post overnight emergency surgery, with a big plastic cone around his head, wagging his newly stitched up nub of a tail, and is now very happy to be in a nice foster home enjoying some rest and relaxation with a little play time here & there. As you can see he’s a very pretty black lab mix who will be medium size, and though he’s very very skinny now we are working on fattening him up a bit. He’s a very good boy who has been a joy to know in the short time we’ve had him, and will be back to good health in no time, at which point he would love to find a forever home where he can be with somebody who will give him the love and attention he’s never really had. He’s going to make somebody who’d like to provide him with a forever home very happy!
If you’re one of the many who’d love to help Gavri but can’t take him in, Last Day Dog Rescue is graciously accepting donations made in his name to help offset the costly medical expenses taken on to get him stitched up and make him all better. To make donations by cash, check, credit or to find out about other ways you can help, please visit our donations page, this guy would really appreciate it!
Thanks for stopping by! Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Videos of Gavri - ADOPTED 03.01.11: Other Pictures of Gavri - ADOPTED 03.01.11 (click to see larger version):
