4/20/10 Update:
This fella is about a year old, Flat Coated Retriever mix, although he is probably a mix of many breeds.  He's still very much a puppy and will need some confidence boosting activities/training with his adoptive family.  New places are a little frightening to him, but he is finding his brave side more and more each time we expose him, both by himself and with Riley, to new situations.  He's currently about 50lbs, but still needs about 5 more pounds to be at his optimum weight.  He can be a bit rude when it comes to toys.  He steals them from all of the other dogs and often does not back down when they tell him to buzz off.  He will need to be crated while he is owners are away, as he still will try to eat his toys.  I tell him that he should play with them and not eat them, but alas he gives me his "Higgins" look as he tries to eat part of his stuffy.  If he has a toy that squeaks, he's in 7th heaven.  His recall has not been tested officially, but once or twice he has gotten away from us and has come right back.  He almost always falls asleep when we take him on rides.

Higgins is a very well behaved austrailian shepherd.  He is about 2 years old, weighs about 45 pounds and is very handsome. Higgins is still a little bit shy, but overall he does well with other dogs, plays well, does well on a leash, and knows some commands.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.
