Woof! My Journey from Darkness to Love: An Autobiography by Lady Elena the Shih TzuHello, lovely humans! My name is Lady Elena, and I have a story to share that I hope will touch your heart and maybe even bring us together. I am a sweet and resilient Shih Tzu girl, somewhere between 4 and 8 years old. My early life wasn't filled with the love and care every dog deserves, but thanks to some wonderful rescuers and my amazing foster family, I am ready to start a new chapter filled with love, warmth, and companionship. My Early DaysI was born into a world that was not kind to me. For years, I lived in a puppy mill, a place where I was used as a breeding dog. Life was tough there, and I often felt scared and alone. There were so many of us, and we didn’t get the attention or care we needed. I didn’t know what it was like to be loved or to have a family of my own. A New BeginningOne day, everything changed. Kind rescuers from Last Day Dog Rescue came and took me away from that dark place. I was scared at first because everything was so new and different, but soon I realized that these humans only wanted to help me. They brought me to a safe and loving foster home where I could finally begin to heal. Healing and RecoveryWhen I arrived at my foster home, I was very nervous. I had never known the comfort of a soft bed or the joy of a gentle pat on the head. But my foster family was so patient and kind. They gave me space and time to adjust. They took me to the vet where I was spayed and had an umbilical hernia repaired. It was a bit scary, but I knew it was for the best, and now I am feeling so much better! Discovering LoveIn my foster home, I am learning what it means to be a cherished pet. I am discovering the joy of playing with toys, the comfort of snuggling on the couch, and the delight of yummy treats. I have a warm bed to sleep in and kind humans who give me lots of love and attention. Every day, I am becoming more confident and happy. One of my greatest joys is grooming time. I absolutely cherish the moments when my foster family gently brushes my fur and gives me a bath. It makes me feel so pampered and loved. Grooming has become a special bonding time for us, and I look forward to it. It’s a time when I can relax and enjoy the gentle touches and soothing words from my humans, knowing I am in a safe and loving place. Looking for My Forever HomeNow, I am ready to find my forever home. I dream of a family who will continue to shower me with the love and care I have just started to experience. I am a gentle and loving girl who just wants to be by your side. I might be a little shy at first, but with your patience and kindness, I will open up and show you just how loving I can be. I am good on or off a leash and have excellent recall, which means I come back to you whenever you call me. I do not respond or react to other animals in a negative or aggressive way. I would do best in a calm and quiet home where I can feel safe and secure. I get along well with other gentle dogs and would be happy to have a furry friend. Most of all, I need a family who will understand my past and help me build a bright and happy future. Why Adopt Me?I have so much love to give and I am ready to share my heart with a family who will cherish me forever. I have been through a lot, but I am a survivor with a big heart and a lot of love to offer. If you are looking for a loyal, loving, and gentle companion, I might just be the perfect dog for you. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you think we could be a perfect match, please reach out. I can’t wait to find my forever family and start our wonderful journey together. With all my love, Lady Elena Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of LadyElena - ADOPTED 06.07.24 (click to see larger version):
