Description:

Our vet believes Uma is a purebred red nosed pit. She is doing great with her manners. We originally thought she was not good with other dogs, but she is doing much better with them. She has a great dane friend that she runs around with in the yard at the kennel. She is fine with most other dogs until they try to sniff her; she doesn't care for that.

Uma has added to her artillery of tricks. She now knows sit, stay, shake, and high five. We are working on lie down and rollover. Uma does not bark.  She will also try to eat the cat's food. Uma may not be the best match for a home with kitties; she likes things that run and scamper away from her. She might do fine in a home with very sedentary cats who aren't spooked by dogs.

Uma spent the weekend at a volunteer's home, and we know a little more about her now. She is a real cuddler, and a bit of a bed hog. She loves going for walks (long or short) and eating the snow and ice piles we encounter along the way.
Uma is fully housebroken, and is crate trained as well. She doesn't like being forced in there, but will go in the crate completely voluntarily for car rides or after walks. When she first encounters a new person, she will still jump up on you a bit. We are trying to break her of this. After she meets you for a few minutes, she calms down considerably. She knows "sit" and "shake" and is starting to figure out that when we say "Uma" we are talking to her. Uma is doing AMAZINGLY better at her leash walking.

Uma does fine with the cats at the boarding kennel, but we wouldn't necessarily recommend her for a home with cats because of the breed's tendencies. She does not like most other dogs, but we would consider a home with one non-alpha dog.

At a recent vet appointment, we found out that she is 52lbs. She looks much smaller due to her muscular build.

Uma does great on car rides, and will hop right in and ride co-pilot no problem. She loves being petted, and will roll over for belly rubs.
Uma was so grateful to spend the night in a bed instead of on a cement floor. We know that she will repay her adopter/foster with love, kindness, and loyalty. Uma needs a foster. If you can help, please email ourlastdaydogs@gmail.com

Uma is a sweetheart! She's full of love and affection, and her eyes light up when she sees her person walk by. Uma has a lot of energy, but that could be because she just moved from the kennels to a foster home. Once you get her calmed down, she will go lie in her crate or on her doggy bed, and hang out there by herself. She is crate trained and house broken.

She loves being petted, and will nuzzle her head into you till you pet her. She does try to jump up on people, and we are working on breaking her of it. It is only because she is so very excited to see you, but we know that this isn't the best habit. We are working on her leash walking as well, using a pinch collar for regular walks and a harness for adoption events. She will soon be an excellent leash walker!Over the summer, Uma had a litter of puppies. The pups have since gone to adoption, but Uma is still available and in search of her forever home. She was recently spayed, and is current on all shots.

Uma's favorite activities include playing with her kong, running around in the yard, and snuggling up next to you. She loves being around other dogs and wags her tail the entire time we are in PetSmart. She does great at the groomers. We have only had her in the car in her crate, but if exercised properly before a car ride, she pretty much curls up in a ball and sleeps the entire time. Uma picks and chooses her doggy friends. We have never tried her with cats, so we aren't sure how she is with them.

Note: You are applying for a dog that may or may not be considered a bully breed by certain counties. Please check breed specific legislation for your county, city, condo/apartment complex, and home owners association. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
