Description:

Twix is a wiggly little bundle of joy.  He really wags his WHOLE body, and it's about the cutest thing ever!  He loves pets, and he has the best smile!  He is healthy, neutered and just had a dental.

He is so adorable, that anyone who holds him will want to take him home.  However, he needs a very patient adopter. If you read Dewey's bio, it's the same circumstances that led to Twix being in foster.

Twix came from a hoarding situation.  Upon her death, the out of touch family of an older woman dog breeder who had become an animal hoarder unexpectedly inherited a home... with 56 small dogs in 2 feet of poop.  That was Twix's life...before.  Twix had never gone down ONE stair. Or through a doorway.  He had never gotten to "potty outside".

At the time of this writing, Twix has been in foster care for six weeks.  He spent the first 10 days in his foster home never willingly going more than inches from his open crate door.  Unwillingly, he was forced to be much, MUCH cleaner, to have wormer meds pushed on him, to be on a human lap with a fuzzy blanket, to go outside and enjoy sunshine and spring grass to lie on...It was all terrifying.  Twix was so shut down from the overload of "change", that for days and days he
would hardly eat.

He now eats all his food in minutes. Though he is still shy and/or fearful at times, he is getting braver by the day.  In fact, he has decided that it's a good idea to bark at the UPS delivery guy, a distant barking dog, even at nearby fireworks some over eager neighbor set off! We are glad for his new confidence, but he might turn out to be a little watch dog after all!  He plays with toys, and loves to "steal" one from his foster sibling, and play "keep away".  He absolutely LOVES to wrestle and play tag with his foster sibling, so much so that his foster brother's fur is often crunchy with dried Twix spit!  However he is always gentle.  There are no rough edges to his play.  He takes treats from your hand in the most gentle way as well.

Twix still struggles with house training, though he gets plenty of opportunities, and much praise for "going" outside.  With his background, house training is simply going to take a great deal of time.  Anyone who adopts Twix, should be aware of that, and be ready for the long haul.  Also, his teeth had not been cared for, and he lost 7 adult teeth at his dental...and two baby teeth that hadn't fallen out as they should have.  He will need an annual dental!

Twix is sweet, good hearted and so very cute that just looking at him makes your heart happy.  If he had a forever home, HIS heart would be happy.  Apply to adopt Twix, and make his dreams come true.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
