Description:

Orson is so easy to live with, so gratifyingly happy, he's a joy to have in your life.  When you know his history, that just means even more. Orson came from a hoarding situation. A person who had managed to hide their descent into animal hoarding passed away.  Her relatives inherited a house with 56 dogs, in 2 feet of poop.  That was Orson's life,... before.

We don't actually know Orson's age. The vet chose the age of 7, (Which hey, is not really OLD for a little dog!), and he's acting younger every day.  His eyes are bright and he looks at you very often.  Orson does like to keep his eye on you!  He follows you to the bathroom!

Orson is house trained, crate trained, and does absolutely no harm in the house. The somewhat younger dogs that came in with him from the same life have had to learn all those skills, are still learning them...but it seems Orson has just been waiting to use them again.  He's not a barker, even though he is fostered with several "bad examples"!

Orson was already neutered before he came into foster and just had a dental.  He lost 8 teeth, and it was a blessing.  His smile is still adorable!

His only health issue of note is a grade 2 to 3 heart murmur which needs no medication at this time, and does not affect his ability to function at all.  He's overweight.  There is no need for it!  Orson did a six foot zoomie circle on his second real leash walk, as soon as he hit the grass beyond the porch steps.  He was so excited!  He pants the whole time, but absolutely LOVES walks.  He doesn't beg or seem hungry either.  It was probably all there was to do in the hoarder home.  Eat. Then wait for someone to come and break up the monotony of his existence with food and water.  With his enthusiasm, it won't be difficult for him to come down to a healthy weight.

He is a bit timid, but not at all shy.  He is a serious worshipper of your hands. He will lick them, (possibly way too much), if you are nearby and not petting him!  He loves pets, and his fur is incredibly soft.  Baby DUCK soft!  So, it is a pleasure to pet him.  Orson was not comfortable on your lap or on the couch at first, but recently his foster mom started seeing if he could be.  He can!  He has started playing with toys, just a little.  There is a disreputable looking penguin toy without a squeaker anymore, that keeps making its way into his bed.

Orson has been in foster since May 8th, and really just needed that dental...and a bit of decompression time.  He finished his post dental antibiotics last week, and is SO VERY ready to have a forever home.  His heart is completely open to love!

Orson needs two measured meals a day, belly rubs instead of treats, tiny walks and YOU.

Fill out an application and talk to his foster mom, who can't wait to tell you all about him. She says, "Maybe Orson is your dog, and you just don't know it yet!  In which case?  FINE CHOICE!"

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
