Lady joined Last Day Dog Rescue in September 2009.

1/15/10: Lady is now in a foster home and out of the kennel. Since she has been recently put on arthritis medication, we think that has helped her a lot! She now jumps in and out of the car with ease, and isn't bothered by other dogs trying to play with her. She is in a foster home with a nine year old lab as her "foster brother" and is doing great with him. She is still a very calm dog who does not need a lot of play or exercise in general.

12/31/2009: Lady is still at the boarding kennel, and we are hoping some loving soul will take her into their home. She is a very sweet older dog. She is content with taking two laps around petsmart, and then napping by your feet (which is pretty much what she does at our adoption events). She gets along with a few of the dogs in our rescue, such as Graciella (a boxer) and Spirit (an american eskimo), so we can't figure out the rhyme or reason to why she likes some and not others. She would do great as an only child or in a home with the right doggy sibling. Lady is fine with most kids, but does not like sharp sudden movements, so they would have to be kids with good play manners.

9/1/2009: Lady recently arrived from a gassing shelter when her owners surrendered her, knowing she would likely be put down. Luckily we got there just in time, and with the help of the Carroll’s Angels group, we were able to save her. Lady is very calm, and would be an excellent match for someone who wants a less energetic dog. She walks great on a leash. She is a cat chaser, so we would not recommend her for a home with cats. She is great with smaller dogs (anything beagle size or less), but sometimes growls at dogs who are her size or bigger. We are still working with Lady on the housebreaking, and think she may have been an outdoor dog previously. Lady weighs 47 pounds, and though our vets have given us conflicting information, we are currently estimating her age at 5-8 years old.
Our vet suggested she may be a mix of a German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, and Corgi! Can you imagine?? She gets her build, posturing, and coat from the German Shepherd, her cool eyes (one blue, one green) from the Australian Shepherd, and her facial features and short legs from the Corgi! Lady has a very sweet temperament. Please consider giving her a forever home!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
