Description:
Update 5-22-09: Hi everyone! My name is Jake (Jr). I'm a Doberman/Beagle mix. I came to Last Day from an elderly owner who developed a medical condition and had to go to a nursing home, so there was no one to care for me. When I got to my foster home I was pretty shy but I have become much happier the longer I have been there and am really coming out of my shell. I'm only four years old and very healthy so I will be with you a long, long time. I am about 16" at my back and weigh about 37 lbs so I am perfect size for any home. I am quite satisfied curled up on the couch beside you after you come home from a long day at work or I'll be your constant companion if you stay at home. I really like going for walks and being shown off to the neighbors. I'm VERY affectionate and like to be close to people. I am very gentle with kids, so any age is fine with me! I also like other dogs like my foster brother Harley. I hope you don't mind, I sleep on your bed, but don't worry, I don't take up too much room! Oh ya, I'm house trained and will not have accidents in your house. My foster home has a fenced yard which I enjoy, but my foster dad is training me off leash without a fence. Once you meet me, you will love me. Please give me a forever home!! Update 5-1-09: Jake is a 4 year old Doberman/Beagle mix who weighs about 40lbs. He came to us when his previous owner had to move to a nursing home. Jake has excellent manners, and listens very well. He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home, and leaves the cat alone. He loves women, but is a bit shyer around men. We will know more about Jake soon. He is a wonderful dog. Please help him find his forever home.                                                                                                                                                       Our organization offers 24PetWatch microchips, which include free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
