Description:

Update 11/5/09: We've had Ginger quite a while now. She has become a true gem! She is full of excitement and loyalty. She wags her tail as soon as you walk in the door! Ginger knows a few commands: sit, stay, and time for bed. She is fully housebroken, and can spend the night outside her crate without any accidents. She sometimes hangs out in her crate for fun. She does great in the car too, and will ride nicely in the back seat. Ginger's favorite past time is rolling over and having her belly or back rubbed. Ginger would prefer to be an only child!

Update 5/17/09: Ginger is starting to come out of her shell. She is definitely going to need a home with lots of love. We suspect she was used as a bait dog in a past life because she is covered in scars and scraps, and is severely underweight. She is fearful of other dogs, but especially small dogs. She seems to do fine with cats. We would recommend Ginger for a home where she is the "only child" or is around big friendly passive dogs.

Update 5/10/09: Ginger Spice (also known as Sad Eyes) is the sweetest girl. She just arrived. We saw her picture on the shelter's website, and learned she was going to be euthanized via heart stick. We just had to save her -- look at those beautiful eyes. This poor girl is extremely shy and scared. She is still coming out of her shell, and we will know more about her soon. Please help her find her forever home. Her adoption fee is $175.

Update 6-17-09:  Ginger is full of love once you earn her trust.  She will follow her humans around wherever they go.  She wants nothing more than to lay at your feet or next to you and get love and attention.  She is quiet and well-behaved but very skittish with strangers.  I recommend a home with no other pets or small children.  She needs some undivided attention to help heal her wounds.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
