Description:
Sweet Della is a beautiful shepherd/rottweiller mix. She is approximately a year old and weighs 49 pounds - but could stand to gain a few more. Della is spayed, healthy and up to date on shots and heartworm preventatives. She literally was rescued from a local area shelter on her last day. After being bathed and cleaned up, we discovered how pretty she was. Della is a sweet girl who most likely was "kicked around" in her past life, as she cowers easily. She needs a loving owner who can spend time with her and help her to feel safe again. She does well with her foster dog "brother", and is not aggressive with food, toys or rawhides. She is interested in the foster cats, but if she gets too inquisitive and they bat at her, she runs to her foster mom for protection. Della walks well on a leash, is housebroken (no accidents to date!), doesn't appear interested in chewing and learns quickly. She wants to please. She loves everyone and is gentle with children. She is responsive when called, but will need training on the basics - sitting, staying, etc. She really bonds quickly and wants to be with her person as much as possible - yet is quiet when left alone. She has not been crated, as she hasn't needed it - but would probably do fine in a crate. She also rides well, likes to sit quietly and look out the window. If you think you are the person to give sweet Della a forever home, please contact us. She is going to make some lucky person a wonderful companion! Our organization offers 24PetWatch microchips, which include free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. For more information visit www.24petwatch.com or call 1-866-597-2424. This pet also is eligible for 30 days of pre-paid ShelterCare pet health insurance. For more information please visit www.sheltercare.com or call 1-866-375-PETS. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Della (click to see larger version):
