Beverly has special medical needs. She had a pacemaker put in at the end of August and she is almost healed from it. She had a very slow heartbeat, which resulted in an enlarged heart, which created a heart murmur. She is not on medication, but will need continued medical care in the future; checkups to make sure it’s working correctly, EKG-type tests to see if her heart has shrunk down to a more normal size, and new batteries put in within 5-8 years. With this care, the vet believes she could easily live another 10 – 15 years. It may sound daunting, but the hard (and most expensive part) is over.

This sweet girl came to us as an owner surrender and had a hard time at first. She was terrified of the new situation and did not want to be picked up and was very tentative of people. While she quickly warmed up and became a lap dog, it took longer for her to be fine with being picked up by those she knows and trusts.

Beverly blossomed when she was introduced to other dogs. She needs to be adopted to someone who already has a canine companion. Beverly is a very aggressive player, she loves to wrestle and bark at the other dogs, but it is in happy playfulness. A dog friend would need to be tolerant of an extremely vocal, extremely playful, little ball of energy.  If you have a dog that drives you crazy with activity, Beverly will tire him or her out for you.

Potty training is on-going for Beverly. She’s not one to make a lot of messes, but she is pee pad trained rather than outdoor trained. She will go potty outdoors, but if it’s cold or wet, or she’s tired, she’ll go on the piddle pad. She doesn’t let me know she needs to go out, so she uses the pee pad more often than outdoors. There are several pee pads in the house, but she always uses the one that is in a hallway, around the corner, out of sight. She likes her privacy.

Beverly sleeps in bed at night, she loves to cuddle up to her person and keep them warm. She is very loveable and very much a cuddle bug, but because she doesn’t like certain things, she won’t do great around small children. Although, she loves teenagers.

If Beverly has pulled at your heartstrings, but you don’t think she is a match for your home, please consider donating to her care. Her diagnoses, pre-op, surgery, and after care has been extremely expensive and has hit our rescue hard at a time when we have had several other foster pets with medical issues.  Please consider a tax deductible gift to the rescue towards Beverly's surgery. Click on the "Donate" button near the top.

If you think she could be a fit for your home, please apply!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
