Newlyweds give to dog in dire needPost by Julie Randall, LDDR foster/volunteerSometimes good news and bad news come together in an amazing way. We were contacted last week about a bride, Jaclyn, who along with her new husband, Bernard, had made the decision to make a donation in lieu of having guest favors at their wedding. They wanted to do something beyond themselves to commemorate their special day. As animal lovers, they had included their dog Diamond in the ceremony (check out the purple tutu!) as she has been an important part of their lives since rescuing her at the age of 3 months as a stray in Detroit. We are touched to be made a part of their special day and appreciative of the donation. As many of you know, we never seem to get one emergency far out of the hospital without having another right behind it. And this week was no exception. Bella Mia was found by the son of an LDDR foster in a field. We thought she was simply underweight. At her intake exam her sugar levels were scary high and as a result she was transported to emergency for round the clock care until she could be stabilized. Bella Mia is a diabetic. After hearing Bella Mia’s story and situation, Jaclyn was thrilled to be able to designate their donation for Bella Mia’s care. So we say a heartfelt thank you to Jaclyn, Bernard (and Diamond) as they approach their first anniversary, for their generosity and thinking of Last Day Dog Rescue. *** As an aside, late last night we got the wonderful news that Bella Mia was able to leave the hospital and go home to her foster mom who has been patiently awaiting her return to spoil and pamper her back to good health. She will be available for adoption once she is back in good health. Please click her photo to read her bio and see more pictures of this sweet girl in need. |
