Penelope is a delightful little girl. She is just full of life and happiness that she is always ready for fun and loves to play with people. There is no need to ever ask for kisses as she is always ready to pass them out! She is also a huge cuddler! She is on the shorter size and a real joy to be with! She can be picky about her doggie friends but we are working on this. As in all young dogs she needs some basic rules but is a fast learner and really wants to please. She is really good at "sit" and is learning "lay down" and "paw". She does fine in a crate and rides ok in car but she tries to get in your lap because she just wants to be close to you.

Penelope had spent almost her entire life in a shelter. She is such a happy littl girl despite her past. She just LOVES people and adores kids!!! She is so deserving of her own family and home and to know how life really should be for her! Please open your heart and home to this little doll! She will be forever grateful!

Update from Penelope's foster: She is super cuddly and loves to get attention. House trained. However, she really hates the crate. We tried to crate her the first night and she was not having it. She is very content sleeping on our bedroom floor in her bed own bed. We also tried to crate her during the day when we were out and she got extremely anxious and started chewing on her tail :/ So we tried leaving her out in the house and she is completely fine - sleeps the entire time we are gone. Not destructive at all. However, she apparently does not do well with other dogs. We are going to start training classes with her. She is a total people person thought and apparently loves children (although we have not seen this first hand). She does fine on a leash (but we are still working on some pulling issues).

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption.  AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification.  The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted.  If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip.  Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times.  Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

 

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
